Story

STARBEANS was founded and established by its sole proprietor Malan Dharmathilake in 2010. The first STARBEANS establishment was a small Coffee shop and restaurant at Hikkaduwa that served a variety of hot/cold coffee drinks, cakes, breakfast food items and other snacks.

STARBEANS’ first franchise coffee shop was opened in September 2013 at Unawatuna. It opened its 3rd outlet at one of Sri Lanka’s major surfing destinations, Arugambay in May 2014.

2014 (September) marked the opening of STARBEANS Ocean Restaurant & Cafe at the newly renovated Galle Dutch Hospital, which helped brand it as a fine dining restaurant.

Over the next few months came a period of learning and gaining experience in the field of fine dining. Meanwhile, its second franchise coffee shop was opened at Ella in July 2015.

By 2016 December, STARBEANS was able to open its 6th restaurant at one of Sri Lanka’s famous tourist destinations, Mirissa.

The STARBEANS experience allows everyone to sample a wide variety of Sri Lankan, Italian, Mexican and seafood dishes made from fresh authentic ingredients and locally sourced fresh seafood. To pair with and enhance the taste of the food, we also serve a range of high-quality wines, cocktails, fruit juices and smoothies. Our range of creative desserts and specialty in coffee truly helps us give our customers the complete dining experience

The use of modern technology has enabled us to simplify our operations and provide seamless services to our diners. While we use a competent online system to track inventory, take down orders and monitor bill payments, we have created a comfortable environment for our customers with free Wi-Fi and a strong online presence.
